CMIcontributestoconflictresolutionthroughmediation,mediationsupport,dialogueandcapacity-buildingprocesses.
CMIworksinSub-SaharanAfricaparticularlytosupportregionalandsub-regionalorganisationsintheireffortstopromotepeaceandsecurityonthecontinent.
Wehelpthembuildtheirmediationcapacitiesandassistintheirmediationefforts.
Wealsopromotethepossibilitiesofwomenandyouthtoparticipateinresolvingconflictsandsupportingreforms.
CMIisofferinganinternshippositionfora4-6monthperiodstartingin2016forinterestedandsuitablestudentswithavaliduniversityaffiliation.
AsCMIisunabletoprovideremunerationforthedurationoftheentireinternship,studentswithfundingfromtheiruniversityareencouragedtoapply.
ReportingtotheHeadoftheSub-SaharanAfrica(SSA)team,theinternwillbeworkingasapartoftheSSAteamwiththefollowingkeyresponsibilities:ToassisttheSub-SaharanAfricateaminthetrackingoftheprojects'financialexpenditures,reportingandotherrelatedadministrativeissues;ToassisttheSub-SaharanAfricateampracticallyintheimplementationofvariousactivities(supporttotheorganisationofevents,logistics,etc.
)andmoregenerallytheSSAprogramme;Toprovidefrequentnewsupdatesonrelevantprioritythemesandcountries;ToprovideothergeneralassistancewithintheSub-SaharanAfricateamforitsdialogueandcapacity-buildingactivities.
Thesuccessfulcandidateisexpectedto:Beaffiliatedtoauniversityandbenearcompletionofagraduatedegreeinpoliticalscience,peaceandconflictstudies,internationalrelationsoracomparablefield;FamiliaritywithAfricaisconsideredanasset;HaveastrongcommandofEnglish;Frenchisconsideredanasset;HavetherighttoresideandworkinFinland;Haveexcellentnetworkingskills,goodjudgementandculturalsensitivity;Beagoodteamworkerwhilebeingabletoworkautonomouslyandhaveaproactiveattitude;CommittotheCMIprincipleofneutrality.
Aninternshipagreementwiththestudent'suniversitywillbedrawnupfora4-6monthperiod.
