Thus,itisessentialtoreducenoisefromthesystempowersupply,especiallywhenjitter/phasenoiseiscriticaltoapplications.
Filtercapacitorsareusedtoeliminatethelow-frequencynoisefromthepowersupply,wherethebypasscapacitorsprovidetheverylowimpedancepathforhigh-frequencynoiseandguardthepower-supplysystemagainsttheinducedfluctuations.
Thesebypasscapacitorsalsoprovideinstantaneouscurrentsurgesasrequiredbythedeviceandshouldhavelowequivalentseriesresistance(ESR).
Toproperlyusethebypasscapacitors,theymustbeplacedveryclosetothepower-supplypinsandlaidoutwithshortloopstominimizeinductance.
