InthefinalpagesofDerrida'sbook,thisfriendshipwithoutbondandbeyondthebondfindsanexemplarintherelation(orthenon-relation)ofMauriceBlanchotandGeorgesBataille,andparticularlyinthetextthatBlanchotdedicatedtoGeorgesBataille:Friendship[L'Amitié](PF293).
Thefriendshipwhichinterruptsthebondismoreovertobelinked,Derridasuggests,tothe'communitywithoutcommunity'(48)namedbyBataille,andonwhichBlanchotwillwriteinTheUnknowableCommunity[Lacommunautéinavouable],inresponsetoJean-LucNancy'sTheInoperativeCommunity[Lacommunautédésuvrée].
PoliticsofFriendshipthusaddresses,obliquely,acommunityoffriendswhoselinkswitheachothertakethewrittenformofaseriesofruptureswithcommunity,aseriesofasymmetricalinterventionsandresponses.
Friendship,inthissense,existsintheresponseortheechothatonetextgivestoanother,wherethisresponserespondswithoutanswering,andwheretheechoisalreadyanothervoice;communityisinscribedinorratheracrossadisjunctivenetworkoftexts.
