ThisnativeEHCIsupportallowstheUSBportstofunctionduringacleanOSinstalltherebyprovidinganend-usertheabilitytouseaUSBbasedstorageorHIDdevicetomanuallyinstallthexHCIdriverprovidedbyIntel.
WiththeremovaloftheEHCIController,InteldoesnotanticipateanyissueswithonlyexposinganxHCIcontrollerforWindows*8/8.

Duringthisphase,avirtualRAMdriveiscreatedandallfundamentalOSinformation,includinghardwaredriversandWinPEkernel,areloadedintothisvirtualdrive.

WinPEKernelStarts-TheUSBspecificissuesstarthereasthexHCIdriverisnotavailableintheWinPEkernel.
TheBIOSiscontinuingtoemulatestorageservicessothatthebootloaderisunawarethatthephysicalstoragedevicereliesontheUSBcontrollerstack.
WhenallofthedriversareloadedintotheRAMdrive,executionishandedofftotheWinPEkernel.
Atthispointintime,theWinPEkernelceasestoutilizetheBIOSroutines,andinsteadusesself-containedserviceswithintheRAMdrive.
TheWinPEkernelwillnotbeabletousethexHCIcontrollerhardwareasthereisnoxHCIdriverintheRAMdriveandaccesstotheOSsourcefilesissevered.
Atthispoint,theinstallprocessisstuck,andaWinPEkernelmessagesimilartothefollowingwillbedisplayed:"ArequiredCD/DVDdevicedriverismissing.
Ifyouhaveadriverfloppydisk,CD,DVD,orUSBflashdrive,pleaseinsertnow.

InadditiontotheprimaryissueofOSinstallationisthesecondaryissueofinstallingthexHCIdriver,asthexHCIdriverisnotpartoftheWindows*7installationpackage.
Therefore,thexHCIdriverswillnotbecopiedontotheOStargetdrive,eitherHDDorSDD,etc.
Ifthedrivercanbeacquiredviaanetwork(wiredorwireless),orsomeothernon-USBinterface,thentheproblemisresolved,andthexHCIcontrollerwillnowbevisible.
