comABSTRACTLibraryinformationsystem(LIS)inhospitalisasystemwhichanalysesthetestdatatransportedbyvarioustestinstrument,producestestreportsofthepatients'basicinformationandstoresindatabasethroughtheinternetsothatthedoctorscanseethetestresultsconvenientlyandimmediately.
OurhospitalembeddedLISinthehospitalinformationsystemin2008sothatallthetestinformationresourcescanbefullyusedandelectronized.
Thesystemhasbeenoperatedforaperiodoftime.
Thisarticlemainlyillustratesthestructure,process,functionandimprovementproposalofthesystem.
Theworkinhospitalhasbeenoptimizedandregulatedwithimprovedefficiencyandquality.

Withtherapiddevelopmentofmedicaltestmethods,thepopularizationofinformationconstruction,theimprovementoflivingstandardandgradualemphasisonhealth,laboratoriesinhospitalarefacingtheproblemofintensiveandmassivework.
Allthenewsituationsneedaquickresponsetodifferentkindsoftestapplicationssoastotheclinicaldoctorscangettheinformationasquicklyandcorrectlyaspossible.
LISconsistsofhardware,operatingsystemsoftware,databasemanagementsoftwareandapplicationsoftware.
Hardware:includingsomeperipheralequipmentsuchasserver,workstation,printer,barcodeprinter,barcodescanninggun,etc.
Operatingsystemsoftware:itisabridgeconnectinghardwarewithapplicationsoftware.
SomecommonOSesareMicrosoftWindowsXP(workstation)andMicrosoftWindows2003(server)Databasemanagementsoftware:itprovidesthestorageandsettingforcomplexdataandthedefinition,constructionandusageofdocuments.
Thesoftwarecanstoreorpickoutdataaccordingtodifferentsubscribers'specialstandards.
WechooseMicrosoftSQLServer2005.
Applicationsoftware:themainfunctionofLISistoanalyzethetestdatatransportedbyexperimentequipmentandthengeneratetestreports.
AllthedataarestoredintheInternetsothatdoctorscanseeapatient'stestresultsconvenientlyandimmediately.
ItcanalsoestablishaseparateLISdatabaseandconnectLISwithHIS.
Soallpatients'testdataandtheentries,storageandusageofmaterialsindifferentdepartmentscanbecollectedinthissystem.
WORKINGPROCESSOFLIBRARYINFORMATIONSYSTEMTestitemsarerenderedbydoctorsindoctors'workstation.
Nurseswillcollectspecimenofalltheitemsaccordingtotestinformationandprintbarcode.
Attheoutpatientsectionthereisaspecialbloodsamplingroomforspecimencollection.
Byreadingpatients'medicalcards,doctorscangettheinformationofthepatientsandtheywillprintthespecimencollectionprocedureintoabarcode.
Whenthebarcodeisprinted,doctorscannotmodifythetestitems.
Iftheywanttomodify,nursesshouldcancelthebindingofbarcodeandtestitems.
Whenthespecimensareclassified,theywillbesenttoequipmentrespectivelyandputinstoragewithanumberoneachspecimen.
Atthesametime,thepatients'informationinHISserverwillbecalledoutandtransportedtothecorrespondingspecimennumber,thenthetestresultswillbesentbacktoHISautomatically.
Theexaminedreportswillbesenttothedoctorworkstationautomaticallysothatthedoctorscancheckpatients'testresultsintime.
Itisreallytimesavingforseeingapatient.

ItemanalysisItcananalyzeitemconditioninacertaintimeaccordingtodifferentcategories,includingmaximumvalue,minimumvalue,meanvalue,standarddeviationandcoefficientofvariation.
Itcanalsogeneratethedataindatalistorvariousgraphs(histogram,etc.
)andanalyzethemindepth.
StatisticsonthestatisticalworkanddailyreportItcancountupamountofworkduringacertainperiodoftimeaccordingtodifferentpatients'type,department,testingitem,experimentcombination,submittingphysicians,inspectiondoctor,testingdepartment,etc.
intheformofdatalistorvariousgraphs.
Itcanalsooutputvariousreportsintheformofdocument(text,spreadsheet,HTML,database,etc.
)andprintspecimeninasummarysheetforthewholedayQualitycontrolMultilevelandsinglelevelqualitycontrolcanbeconducted.

IMPROVEMENTPROPOSALSOFLIBRARYINFORMATIONSYSTEMReformationofPrintReportTheprintreportcanbedeliveredatrandombeforethereformation.
Thedepartmentcannotrestraininspectors'personalprintingandcannotcountuptheamountofwork.
Sincethisphenomenonwasspotted,thereisanadditionofcontrolmanagementtotheprintingmodule,thatis,onlythechargedtestingitemscanbeprintedoutinacompletetestingreport.
Aftertherigorouscontrolontheprocedure,thehospitalcaneffectivelycontroltheevasionofcharging.
Thisreformationwillsavemorethanonemillionyuanoftheevadedchargeperyearforthehospital.
ACorrectionInformationWarningofTestingItemsBeforereformation,ifthedoctorwantedtodeletetheprescribedtestinglistwhilethenursedidn'tseethedeletedtestingapplicationandsentittothetestingdepartment,orthedepartmenthadalreadytestedthespecimen,therewouldbesomeunnecessarywaste.
Ifthedoctorknewthetestingapplicationhadbeendone,heorshewoulddeletethetestinglistandrepressibleanewone.
Butthetestingresultscouldnotbetransportedbacktothedoctorworkstationbecausethelistnumberwetransportedbackwasinconsistentwiththeexistedone.
Theterribleresultwasthattherewouldbeanon-appliedtestingitemtestedbythetestingdepartmentwhiletheexistedonewasn'ttested.
Inordertoreduceunnecessarytrouble,wedesignsomeinformationwarningwindows.
Ifthedoctorsdeleteaprescribedtestingapplication,therewillbeawarningwindowofthedeletionaboutcertainpatientpoppingupautomaticallyinnurseworkstation.
Itreadsthatpleasedeletethebarcode.
Evenifthenursedoesn'tnoticetheinformation,whenthetestingdepartmentscansthebarcode,thesystemwillpopupawindowtoremindthedeletedtestingitem.
Byreformation,thedifficultyofcommunicationbetweendoctorandtestingdepartmentissolvedandlotsofdisputationcanbeavoided.

Butinrealsituation,asettledformatcannotmeetdifferentrequirementsfromtheinspectors.
Becausetherearevariouskindsoftestingreports,forexample,thereferencevalue,therearenumberrangeones,differentageorsexones,descriptionones,etc.
Thedifferencesbetweenthemarecontrasting.
Iftheformatissettled,therewillbeofgreatconvenienceinusingthem.
Atthebeginning,whenusingtheLIS,thereisalotofcomplaint,suchassmallcharacters,sofewrowsinonepage,largespaceforreferencevalue,etc.
Inordertosolvetheseproblems,wedesigndifferenttestingreportmodulefordifferentcharacterfontorparagraphlength(especiallyforthereportwithlargequantityofdescriptivetestingreport).
Wealsoallowuserstosetuptheirownmodulewithflexibilityinadjustingformswithmousedraggingandtheycanseenewadjustingresultsimmediately.
Allreformationcanmeettheneedsforthevariationoftestingreports.
Wealsodesignaprogramtoadjustthesizeofthetestingpapersincethesettledsizecanbeabigwaste.
ThefirstalterationistotransformthetraditionalHISchargingintoLIScharging.
ButthechargingwillbesettledatwhichsectionofLISisveryimportant.
Itisprovedbyexperimentthatwetransformthechargingmoduleintobarcodescanningisscientific.
Ifthedoctorcancelsthebarcodebeforescanning,thesystemwillwarntheresultautomatically.
Ifthebarcodeisnotabolished,thesystemwillchargeautomatically.
Therefore,thetestingdepartmentwillnotsufferanylossevenifthepatientisoutofhospital.
MEANINGANDBENEFITTheLIShasbeenoperatedsteadilyinourhospitalforawhile.
Itdemonstratesthecharacteristicsofcelerity,reliability,easytomaintain,safetyandadaptabilityintestinginformationsystem.
Theperfectfunctionandeasy-operationofapplicationsoftwaremakethetestinginformationsharedbythewholehospital.
LISsupervisesqualitymanagementthoroughlysothateveryprocedurehasastrongassurance.
Withcertainqualitycontrolmanagementmodule,thestatisticsandanalysisworkcanbedonewhichguaranteesthatthere'snogapinmanagementduringtesting,clearlyshowsthewholeprocessandthepersonwhoisinchargeof,avoidsanyshuffleswhentherearemistakes.
Therichdatagraphs'checkingisavailable,suchasthecheckingaboutpatients'medicalhistory,specimen'sreceivingtime,timefordeliveringthereports.
Allcanbeusedinteachingandresearchingaswell.
LIShasbroughtalotofbenefitstoourhospital,forexample,theimprovementinworkefficiency,reducingoferrorrate,strictchargingmanagement.
Withalltheresultsreservedandunerasedpermanently,thetransparencyinhospitalishighlighted.
Patientscanseeadoctormoreconvenientlywithconfidence.
Alargeamountofmoneyandmanagementcostcanbesaved.
Andfortheinformationmanagement,thehospitalcanserverthepatientswithmuchtimeandhighquality.
