comABSTRACTLibraryinformationsystem(LIS)inhospitalisasystemwhichanalysesthetestdatatransportedbyvarioustestinstrument,producestestreportsofthepatients'basicinformationandstoresindatabasethroughtheinternetsothatthedoctorscanseethetestresultsconvenientlyandimmediately.
OurhospitalembeddedLISinthehospitalinformationsystemin2008sothatallthetestinformationresourcescanbefullyusedandelectronized.
Thesystemhasbeenoperatedforaperiodoftime.
Thisarticlemainlyillustratesthestructure,process,functionandimprovementproposalofthesystem.
Theworkinhospitalhasbeenoptimizedandregulatedwithimprovedefficiencyandquality.

Withtherapiddevelopmentofmedicaltestmethods,thepopularizationofinformationconstruction,theimprovementoflivingstandardandgradualemphasisonhealth,laboratoriesinhospitalarefacingtheproblemofintensiveandmassivework.
Allthenewsituationsneedaquickresponsetodifferentkindsoftestapplicationssoastotheclinicaldoctorscangettheinformationasquicklyandcorrectlyaspossible.
LISconsistsofhardware,operatingsystemsoftware,databasemanagementsoftwareandapplicationsoftware.
Hardware:includingsomeperipheralequipmentsuchasserver,workstation,printer,barcodeprinter,barcodescanninggun,etc.
Operatingsystemsoftware:itisabridgeconnectinghardwarewithapplicationsoftware.
SomecommonOSesareMicrosoftWindowsXP(workstation)andMicrosoftWindows2003(server)Databasemanagementsoftware:itprovidesthestorageandsettingforcomplexdataandthedefinition,constructionandusageofdocuments.
Thesoftwarecanstoreorpickoutdataaccordingtodifferentsubscribers'specialstandards.
WechooseMicrosoftSQLServer2005.
Applicationsoftware:themainfunctionofLISistoanalyzethetestdatatransportedbyexperimentequipmentandthengeneratetestreports.
AllthedataarestoredintheInternetsothatdoctorscanseeapatient'stestresultsconvenientlyandimmediately.
ItcanalsoestablishaseparateLISdatabaseandconnectLISwithHIS.
Soallpatients'testdataandtheentries,storageandusageofmaterialsindifferentdepartmentscanbecollectedinthissystem.
WORKINGPROCESSOFLIBRARYINFORMATIONSYSTEMTestitemsarerenderedbydoctorsindoctors'workstation.
Nurseswillcollectspecimenofalltheitemsaccordingtotestinformationandprintbarcode.
Attheoutpatientsectionthereisaspecialbloodsamplingroomforspecimencollection.
Byreadingpatients'medicalcards,doctorscangettheinformationofthepatientsandtheywillprintthespecimencollectionprocedureintoabarcode.
Whenthebarcodeisprinted,doctorscannotmodifythetestitems.
Iftheywanttomodify,nursesshouldcancelthebindingofbarcodeandtestitems.
Whenthespecimensareclassified,theywillbesenttoequipmentrespectivelyandputinstoragewithanumberoneachspecimen.
Atthesametime,thepatients'informationinHISserverwillbecalledoutandtransportedtothecorrespondingspecimennumber,thenthetestresultswillbesentbacktoHISautomatically.
Theexaminedreportswillbesenttothedoctorworkstationautomaticallysothatthedoctorscancheckpatients'testresultsintime.

Itcanalsogeneratethedataindatalistorvariousgraphs(histogram,etc.
)andanalyzethemindepth.
StatisticsonthestatisticalworkanddailyreportItcancountupamountofworkduringacertainperiodoftimeaccordingtodifferentpatients'type,department,testingitem,experimentcombination,submittingphysicians,inspectiondoctor,testingdepartment,etc.

Inordertoreduceunnecessarytrouble,wedesignsomeinformationwarningwindows.
Ifthedoctorsdeleteaprescribedtestingapplication,therewillbeawarningwindowofthedeletionaboutcertainpatientpoppingupautomaticallyinnurseworkstation.
Itreadsthatpleasedeletethebarcode.
Evenifthenursedoesn'tnoticetheinformation,whenthetestingdepartmentscansthebarcode,thesystemwillpopupawindowtoremindthedeletedtestingitem.

Itdemonstratesthecharacteristicsofcelerity,reliability,easytomaintain,safetyandadaptabilityintestinginformationsystem.
Theperfectfunctionandeasy-operationofapplicationsoftwaremakethetestinginformationsharedbythewholehospital.
LISsupervisesqualitymanagementthoroughlysothateveryprocedurehasastrongassurance.
Withcertainqualitycontrolmanagementmodule,thestatisticsandanalysisworkcanbedonewhichguaranteesthatthere'snogapinmanagementduringtesting,clearlyshowsthewholeprocessandthepersonwhoisinchargeof,avoidsanyshuffleswhentherearemistakes.
Therichdatagraphs'checkingisavailable,suchasthecheckingaboutpatients'medicalhistory,specimen'sreceivingtime,timefordeliveringthereports.
Allcanbeusedinteachingandresearchingaswell.
LIShasbroughtalotofbenefitstoourhospital,forexample,theimprovementinworkefficiency,reducingoferrorrate,strictchargingmanagement.
