Thereflectionsarequitebrightinthe2002photoRayreferredto,especiallyconsideringthattheexposureisshortertogetproperlyexposedchromosphere,thantheexposurewouldbeintypicalphotosofinnercorona,whichitselfisquitebright.
Ontheotherhand,itisalongerexposurethanistypicalfor(large)beads.
I'dbeinterestedtofindouthowmanysquarearcsecondsofphotospherewouldberequiredtomakeabeadofequalbrightnesstothesereflectionspotsseenduringtotality.
Thenwecouldsetaboutfiguringoutwhetherthe2005"smallisland"near-totalityviewwouldhavephotosphericbeadsbrighter,dimmer,oraboutthesameasthese"photosphericreflectionbeads"associatedwiththeprominencesseenin2002.
Then,formanysecondsthenear-totalityviewwouldbewithinsomereasonablefactorinbrightness,ofabrighter-than-averagetotalityview.
Thewholeassumptionthatin1925,97thStreetandRiversideDrive(mymother'slocation,aswellassomeofthe"officialobservers")was"THElimitoftotality",mustalsobeputintocontext.

Perthistreaty,theoperationscorporation,ALCIwhogainedattentionaftercoordinatingtherescueeffortofice-boundfishermenin2002;willleadoperationstothebase.
ObservingwillbefromthegroundattheNovosciencestation.
6-hour(pressurized)flightwilldepartfromCapeTowndirectlytoNovo.
Theexpeditionwillrun11days,asitisnecessarytoarriveseveraldaysinadvanceofthescheduledflighttobepreparedforinclementweather.
Itisabitshorterandlessexpensivethansomeotherexpe-ditions.
WeatheratNovo/Maitriisreservedlyreportedbetween44%and55%chanceofclearskies.
