Each student will alsodevelop the following laboratory skills: laboratory safetyprocedures, understanding the scientific method as a problemsolving technique and the use of a compound microscope as anobservation tool. Course outcomes may be retrieved here:es/BioPrn_matrix.pdf Attendance: You are expected to attendall classes and laboratory sessions. Each Thursday night classis the equivalent of almost a weeks worth of weekday classes.Students find that missing just one class becomes verydifficult tomake up. Attendance will be taken each week. Pleasenote that the attendance policy as stated in the MassasoitCommunity College catalog will be followed. There are nomake-up lab sessions. Furthermore, there are no make-up quizzesor lecture exams. Teaching Methods: Students are expected to

come to class prepared to actively participate in classroomdiscussion. Students should spend a minimum of two study hoursfor each hour of class per week (therefore, a minimum of 8 hoursof home study per week) . Prior to each class you should engagein Reading/Learning/Taking-notes-on the content we will bediscussing. Read the upcoming chapter(s) , watch the Prezi, theBozeman and other video clips listed under animated tutorialson the class web page. In addition, students are encouraged toseek additional help, if necessary, from the instructor or byusing the resources of the ARC. The ARC, 508-588-9100 ext 1801,provides free tutors and study groups.
