Inthe60'sand70'swhentracksgotbiggerandraceslongeritwasnotuncommonforthepitstoptobeduringacautionflagandthepitcrewwouldchangeonesideatatime,re‐entertheraceandnextcautionchangetheotherside.

WhentheideaofatrainedpitcrewstartingcirculatingTeamPenskehiredJimBeachner,awrestlingcoachfor18yearsfromtheUniversityofBuffalotoimproveconditioningandfine‐tunethepowerhouseoperationcrewsandthispracticestillstandstodayformostpitcrewteams!

Likethepitcrewthesuccessoftheracedependsonthesmoothoperationofthecommitteeswiththerespecttotheirassignedtask.
TheCrewChiefevaluateseachcrewmemberandpitstopineffortstomakehisteamthebestitcanbe.
Inshagclubswemustevaluateourteamsaswell.
