OnAugust12lastyear,theYESCannouncedthatalldevelopersapplyingforaBuildingCompletionCertificate(BCC)fromYangonCityDevelopmentCommittee(YCDC)wouldneedtodeterminewhetherornotthebuildingrequiredtheinstallationofaprivatetransformertoprovideadditionalpowertothestructure.
Thenewrulewasintendedtocopewithincreasedurbanisation,whichisputtingcostpressuresonelectricitysupply,authoritiessaidatthetime.
Now,developersdonotneedtoinstallthetransformersbecausetheYESChasissuedanewdirectiveonFebruary15.
Theoldpolicystatedthatdevelopersinthecitywouldbeobligedtoinstalltransformerstosupplypowerfornewbuildingswhichconsumemorethan30kilowattsofelectricityperday.
Butthatdirectivefacedbacklashamongthedeveloperswhowereoverwhelminglyagainsttheidea.
Asaresult,40constructionfirmssentajointletteronSeptember28,2016totheYangonRegiongovernmenttoprotestagainstthepolicyandlobbiedforachange.
Localdeveloperswhosignedthelettersaidthatnotallconstructionfirmscanaffordtofinancetheinstallationoftransformersandthiscostwillinevitablybepassedontoapartmentbuyers.

"ThenextmovebythegovernmentconcerningtheYBSwillbetobringinnewbusvehiclesandintroducetheGlobalPositioningSystem(GPS)toallbuses.

Havingcompletedtheconstruction,thejointventurelauncheditsopeningceremonyforitsdistributionandsalesservicesatthecompanyheadquartersonFebruary21.
