Lighttpd

 Brief info: Pronounced“Lighty”, Lighttpd is as the name impl ies a smal l,l ightweight webserverwhich hasa low memoryfootprint and l ight CPU load.

Lighttpd is a good alternative to serve static content but it has also gained recognition in the Ruby on Rai ls and PHP communities.

 Brief info: LiteSpeed is a commercial web serverdesigned specifical ly for large websites.One of LiteSpeed’s advantages is that itcan read Apache configurations directly which makes it easyto integrate with existing productsto replace Apache.The server is l ightweight and as the name impl ies very fast.

 Brief info:Zeus web server is a high performance web server. It has received PC Magazine Editors’Choice award and also the eWeek/PC Magazine Innovation in Infrastructure award. Zeus is a highly flexible enterprise product.

According to Netcraft, Lighttpd is currently the most common of these fourweb servers.On Apri l 1, the numbers of websites foreach were as fol lows:

Interestingly, the numberof servers using the Zeuswebserverhas remained quite constant overthe last twoyears,and even decreased a l ittle.That said, it is mainly an enterprise solution, so this is perhaps not so surprising.
